- Tell us about yourself & where you’re from.
ALEXIS: I am an Urban/Pop/R&B singer from Atlanta, GA signed to G.M.E. (Grown Money Entertainment). I am 19 years old, and in addition to pursuing music, currently a sophomore at Clark Atlanta University.
- When did you start doing music? What inspires you musically?
ALEXIS: I’ve been singing since 7 or 8 years old, but actually recording my own music for a little bit over a year at GME studios. I am inspired mainly by older artists such as TLC, Aaliyah, Brittney Spears, and Michael & Janet Jackson. More recent artists that I listen to and get really inspired by are The Weekend and PartyNextDoor.
- As an artist, what is your biggest struggle as you pursue your music career?
ALEXIS: I haven’t really had any outside struggles because I am in the beginning stages as an artist, so it’s mostly dealing with self. I’m very impatient and I’ve had to learn how to be patient and be consistent to reach my goal. Sometimes I get frustrated when certain things don’t go as planned, but I understand that all the hard work me and my team have been doing this past year will eventually pay off.
- Tell us something exclusive about yourself that most people don’t know.
ALEXIS: Most people tend to think that I’m shy and quiet when they first meet me, but I am actually really goofy and loud when I am around my friends.
- Currently, what project or single are you working on or pushing and where can we find it?
ALEXIS: I’ve been pushing my first single for almost a year. It’s called “Balenciaga” and features Kwony Cash. From the title most people feel it’s just about designer clothes and shoes, but the actual underlying message is about women being independent and not relying on a man to get what you need. You can want something, but you don’t have to need something from a man. Throughout the song, you will hear the phrase #IHoldMyOwn.
You can download “Balenciaga” for free at www.soundcloud.com/AlexisAyaana. Live performance footage and other videos can also be found at www.youtube.com/MsAlexisAyaana.
- What’s been the greatest moment so far in your music career?
ALEXIS: It hasn’t been just one moment, but to see how the single and myself as an artist have progressed over the year is great. Many people know the song and are gravitating to the movement in such a short time and that’s really exciting. If I had to pick one of the highlights though, it would be winning the first award I was ever nominated for “Best Female Vocalist” at Atlanta Underground Music Awards 2014.
- If you could work with anyone who would it be and why?
I’d want to work with Rihanna because I think both of our styles are edgy and I’ve always liked her music.
- What are your goals for the New Year?
ALEXIS: To keep working my single and let it reach its full potential, release more music, and do everything I’ve been doing within the last year on an even bigger scale.
- Tell everyone where they can find you?
ALEXIS: You can follow me on Instagram, Twitter, and Soundcloud @AlexisAyaana. On Youtube and Facebook it is @MsAlexisAyaana. On my website www.AlexisAyaana.com you can join the mailing list, read my blog, and stay connected with upcoming events.

- What words would you like to leave us with? Any shout outs?
ALEXIS: I just want to thank anyone that’s been supporting me now and future supporters. My team (Sheresa my manager and Wes the CEO of GME), my family and fans because this isn’t a one person job. I couldn’t have made anything possible without the help of others that believed in my dream as much as I did.
